Job Description:
Patient Access Representative
Greets, interviews, and registers patients, arranges for admission to hospital, obtains and records pertinent identifying insurance information, assembles all admitting paperwork, provides HIPAA information to patients and collects appropriate co-pays or deposits.
Job Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of two years college education including satisfactory completion of college level Health Records coursework preferred.
A minimum of one year of healthcare experience or equivalent education in at least one of the following areas required: Admitting, Medical Records/Health Information or applicable clerical support experience. Six months customer service experience required. Previous registrar and third pary payor experience preferred. An understanding of healthplan and benefit structures preferred.
National Certification of CHAA preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
